ALLEYNE AME ZION
KNOW GOD | LOVE GOD | SERVE GOD
OUR MISSION
Alleyne is a church on a corner helping others to turn a corner in their lives.
For 70 years, Alleyne has been a beacon of light in an ever changing and diverse community; offering a place for fellowship, worship, and inspiration for people of all ages and all walks of life. Over our history, we have been blessed to be active in our community; leading discipleship ministries, sponsoring feeding programs, working with community partners on crucial justice initiatives, establishing mentoring initiatives, organizing drives for area shelters, and supporting education through scholarships and giveaways. We are grateful that through every season, the Lord has been faithful. We hope that you will join us on the journey as we strive to impact the world for the Kingdom of God!

The Rev. Patrick Barrett, II, is the 13th pastor of the historic Alleyne AME Zion Church in Alexandria, VA. He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and a 2014 Master of Divinity graduate from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. In 2015, he was selected as a Lewis Fellow at Wesley’s Lewis Center for Church Leadership. In 2015, he yielded to the call of God and the godly wisdom of the late Bishop Richard Keith Thompson to take his first pastoral appointment as the pastor of the St. Paul AME Zion Church in Media, PA, after 6 years of nurturing and discipling as the youth pastor of the Judah Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Mitchellville, MD. Rev. Barrett was appointed to Alleyne in 2018, and is leading the church in renewal and revitalization.

OUR LEADERSHIP
Executive Ministry Team
Rev. Patrick Barrett, Pastor
Rev. Rosa Harper Crawford, Minister of Community Outreach
Rev. Anna Benjamin-Cooper, Minister of Congregational Care
Bro. Elijah Crawford, Exhorter
Board of Class Leaders
Each member is assigned a Class Leader and is a part of a Class. Class Leaders are sub-pastors providing spiritual oversight to the members of their class and ensuring that each member is properly connected to the life of the church. Class leaders also provide a first line of care for the members of their class.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees’ ministry is to take charge of the care, maintenance and security of all church property. They initiate necessary improvements to the church and maintain standards and policies for effective and sacred use of the facilities.
Board of Stewards
The Board of Stewards’ ministry is to be accountable and make an exact accounting of all tithes, offerings and contributions made to the church. They ensure the stewardship of church resources and provide support to the Pastor and the ministry of the church, and help for the needy and distressed members of the church and community.
Administration Team
The Admin Team at Alleyne plays the crucial role of helping to keep things organized. This team manages schedules, the events calendar, membership information, and our hospitality ministry.
Growing Christians desire to use their gifts to serve God and the world. We invite each of our family members to get involved with one of our growing ministry opportunities. Perhaps the Lord is leading you to start a ministry? See Rev. Barrett for more information.
Christian Education Department
Christian Education is a life-long process of spiritual growth and faith formation. The CED team provides learning and development opportunities to educate the entire congregation in the faith and to equip the membership with new and useful life skills.
